Managing Director

Tim Booker

Tim is an experienced Director, advisor, and business owner. With a particular focus on assisting organisations facing financial or stakeholder difficulties, he helps navigate successful outcomes, bringing stakeholders on the journey.

He is known for thinking outside of the box and has extensive experience in applying a commercial and pragmatic approach towards resolving operational and strategic issues.

In recent years, Tim has worked on some of the largest restructures in Australia, including playing a senior role in the successful restructure and sale of Virgin Australia which went on to win the Global Turnaround of the Year award. Other recent engagements include lead advisor in a private hospital turnaround, lead transaction advisor to one of Tasmania’s largest trades businesses, and helping lead the successful turnaround and merger of a large Aged Care provider.

Tim holds a range of current board roles across a number of sectors and has shareholdings in several successful private businesses. He also holds a Masters of Business Administration from UNSW, and has completed the Company Directors Course with the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Corporate Finance

Anthony Hawkins

As a seasoned financial and accounting professional, Anthony’s expertise extends across a range of public and private sector clients.

Most recently serving as the Chief Financial Officer for a Tasmanian manufacturing business, he balanced strategic foresight with hands-on financial management to drive both growth and innovation. Prior to this Anthony was a Director for Deloitte in Victoria before moving back to Tasmania in 2020. During his time there, he worked in CFO advisory roles and external audit, conducting engagements with prominent national and Tasmanian brands. Prior to Deloitte, Anthony worked as a Senior Financial Partner for Vicinity Centres (ASX:VCX), where he managed key commercial property management and transactions.

Anthony holds a Bachelor Degree in Economics and Law, complemented by a Master’s in Professional Accounting from the University of Tasmania. Anthony is also a member of Chartered Accountants Australia & New Zealand.

Business Recovery

Adam Johnston

Adam has over ten years’ experience in the insolvency industry.  He is a Registered Liquidator and Bankruptcy Trustee and has primarily been involved in formal corporate and personal insolvency engagements including voluntary administrations, receiverships, the winding up of solvent and insolvent corporate entities and bankruptcy administrations.  Adam is also experienced in providing general advice to stakeholders where a situation may not result in a formal insolvency appointment and how best they might respond to financial pressure or instances where capital is at risk.

Before joining Apex Advisory Australia, Adam held the role of Principal in the Turnaround & Restructuring team with a big four accounting firm.  Prior to that, Adam spent almost a decade working at Paul Cook & Associates where he progressed to being a Principal, overseeing insolvency engagements and managing critical stakeholder relationships.

Adam is a graduate of Massey University, New Zealand with a Bachelor of Business in Accounting and Finance.  He’s also a member of Australian Restructuring Insolvency and Turnaround Association and CPA Australia
